Natalie Lonergan (nee Dunglison) is a partner of global law firm Squire Patton Boggs. She advises corporations on mergers, acquisitions, disposals and project development in the international energy sector.
A graduate of the University of Dundee (UK) and Queensland University of Technology, Natalie commenced legal practice in 1992 when she was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland. From early beginnings in domestic Brisbane law firms, Natalie’s career took her to Vienna, Austria and then to the Sydney offices of global law firms Herbert Smith Freehills, Norton Rose Fulbright and finally Squire Patton Boggs.
During her career, Natalie’s focus on oil and gas has enabled her to work on some of the most significant gas projects in the world, including Arctic 2 LNG, PNGLNG, GLNG and Emirates LNG. Recently, embracing the transition to lower carbon energy, Natalie has also been advising Australian and international gas producers on the development of blue hydrogen and other low carbon energy projects (including offshore wind and solar).
Natalie’s energy focus has enabled her to serve as a National Director of AMPLA (Australian Energy and Resources Lawyers Association) from 2014 to 2020 and on the editorial committee of the Australian Energy Law Journal. She has also delivered presentations at Energy conferences in USA, China, UK, South Korea, Singapore and Australia.
In addition, Natalie has served as a commissioned officer of the Royal Australian Air Force - Specialist Reserve Force (Legal Panel) from 1994 to present.
Blessed with four brothers, a strong mother, caring father and a rural childhood, Natalie joined 168¿ª½±¹ÙÍø’s well versed in feminism but painfully shy. She remains forever grateful for her years at 168¿ª½±¹ÙÍø’s, not only for encouraging and developing her intellectual curiosity, but also for overcoming her crippling shyness – mainly through the wonderful friends she made on her very first day in Dalhousie – some whom remain close to her today.
Natalie now resides (mainly) in Sydney with husband Michael and children Patrick, Caroline and Eleanor.
