2019 was a great year with a growing number of you sharing your stories of success with us and I encourage you all to continue to do this. It is here, that we will over the next few months, publish information about the achievements of our past students, as a representative sample of notable Old Girls in many fields.  As I write this section of the eNews, we have 70 Old Girls celebrated in this section of the website. Each week the number changes. If you feel that someone is missing, please contact the school with the name and we will follow up.

A special congratulations should go to Annabelle Chaplain who is featured among our notables and this year was awarded a member of the general division (AM) in the 2020 Australia Day Honours. Annabelle is not only an Old Girl but is a School Patron 2016/17 and former Chair of School Council. She remains a huge supporter of 168¿ª½±¹ÙÍø’s, and in recent years has particularly helped champion and grown the Professional Women’s Network events.

It is important we celebrate the achievements of our past students. It affirms a 168¿ª½±¹ÙÍø’s education and they become role models to current and other past students. Another opportunity for this to occur is through our Past Student Award program. Please consider nominating someone who has impressed you for the relevant award. The nomination process is very simple, and all the details are available on the school’s website here. 

On the 125 years microsite there is also a section which allows you to share your memories of your school days. Please go on to that section and let us know about your fondest memories.

Every member of our community can play a role in creating a life-changing educational experience for our girls, as we have done together now for 125 Years.

Your donation, if received by Thursday 19 March, will make double the difference to providing our young women with outstanding new learning facilities to support their education, health and wellbeing for life. Donations will be directed towards the new sports precinct so that every girl benefits.

You can also get involved in Giving Day by volunteering in our Operations Room at M's Cafe for two hours on Thursday 19 March.

As a Giving Day volunteer, you’ll be assisting us to spread the word that on this day, for 24 hours only, donations to the Building Fund will be doubled thanks to the support of our generous matching donors.

After graduating from The University of Queensland with dual degrees in Arts/Law in 2002, Georgina began her career in Brisbane, working as a Judge’s Associate in the Supreme Court of Queensland and in the commercial real estate team at Brisbane firm Thynne and Macartney. In 2006, she made the move to London – initially working in the Mergers and Acquisitions team at SJ Berwin LLP for three years and then moving into an in-house role as Corporate Solicitor at Westfield Europe, where she remained for five and a half years.

Georgina joined Manolo Blahnik in 2015. Since then, her role has grown from sole counsel to leader of a legal team of four. Additionally, as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, Georgina participates in all aspects of strategic business planning alongside the CEO and CFO. The role combines her legal and strategic acumen with her personal interests in fashion and retail, and presents Georgina with a wide range of unique and challenging opportunities, from expanding the company’s distribution internationally to collaborations with fashion brands and pop stars, and everything in between.

Reflecting fondly on her time at 168¿ª½±¹ÙÍø’s, Georgina said: "I appreciate more and more the opportunities I was afforded by gaining such sound academic, social and moral guidance at 168¿ª½±¹ÙÍø’s and believe this is quite unique to the school. The genesis of the school’s establishment by the Sisters of the Society of the Sacred Advent to provide girls with an opportunity to aspire to whatever pursuits they were capable has stood the test of time. Being the best you can be doesn’t have to mean being the best. My overriding memories though are of just how much fun I had –  my friends from school remain embedded in my heart."

Georgina has three daughters, aged seven, five and two and a half and lives in London. She notes that, despite the distance, her “school friends remain the most enduring and comfortable friendships”.

Interstate and international Reunions

168¿ª½±¹ÙÍø’s will be hosting reunion events in Sydney, London and Melbourne this year. All past students living and working in, or travelling to, these cities are encouraged to attend.
