Last week, we sent out an update to our parent, staff and past student community on the Sports Precinct and our Capital Campaign progress. I hope that you enjoyed watching our progress on site through the time lapse video and hearing about how the Primary School has already made use of the site as an educational opportunity through the Prep to Year 2 sustainability program and the Primary Careers Week. Thank you to parents, Pam White (Engineer), Kristi Simpson (Architect) and Old Girl, Emily Wilks ('12) (Project Management) for sharing their career journeys in the building industry.
Sporting participation has long been a hallmark of a 168¿ª½±¹ÙÍø's education, and our current students continue to do the school proud.
Last week saw an impressive performance and finish to the season from our swim team at the QGSSSA Swimming Championships. The team placed 3rd in the Mollie Gould Aggregate Cup and 2nd in the Sheena Dyason Percentage Cup. On Saturday morning, the Softball team won their two games against Moreton Bay College and St Aidan’s Anglican Girls' School and in Basketball on Friday, first fixtures of the season, the team won six of their nine matches including the Open Girls.
As we continue to thrive in absence of certain facilities on campus, I am extremely excited about what the students will achieve with a new state-of-the-art Sports Precinct here at the school.
It was wonderful to engage with many people from the community on Open Day, including many of our prospective families, about these exciting plans. There was a lot of excitement about the features of the new facility and what it will mean for not only sport, but also the health and wellbeing of our students. So much so, we are pleased to report that thanks to the generosity of our school community, including past students, parents and staff, we have raised more than $891,000 of our $1 million goal!
With our next capital project at least five years away, the Sports Precinct Capital Campaign provides a unique opportunity for past students and families to leave their name on a significant 168¿ª½±¹ÙÍø's development for generations to come.
A permanent Donor Wall will be erected in the precinct with the names of those who have given $1,000 or more; here your contribution will be etched into the School's history of giving.
We are so close, but it will be the collective support of our community at all levels that will enable the school to achieve this.
If you would like to donate to the Sports Precinct Capital Campaign or discuss giving options, please contact me directly on +61 7 3862 0884 or email foundation@stmargarets.qld.edu.au.
Your tax-deductible donation can also be made .
I would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the members of the school community who have already donated to support this important project. We are very grateful for your support.
