The purpose of this Policy is to provide guidance acknowledging and honouring Line Of Duty Deaths (鈥淟ODD鈥) of law enforcement and emergency response professionals at the Justice Institute of British Columbia (鈥満蠊己解 or the 鈥淚nstitute鈥).
后宫导航 will acknowledge LODDs by:
- Lowering flags to half-mast as per 后宫导航 Policy 2602 Flag Display;
- Posting memorials on 后宫导航 social media accounts;
- Informing 后宫导航 staff; and
- Sending condolences from the Office of the President to the appropriate agency.
For the purpose of this Policy, law enforcement and emergency response professions include:
- Police officers;
- Members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police;
- Sheriffs;
- Security officers;
- Search and Rescue personnel;
- Firefighters;
- Paramedics;
- Emergency and disaster response personnel; and
- Service animals for the said professions.
Line of Duty Death (LODD) - A death that occurs as a direct result of a personal injury sustained by, or a single exposure to a hazardous material or condition experienced by a law enforcement officer, firefighter, emergency medical services practitioner or other emergency responder while they were engaged in a line of duty activity.
