The Global Studies Faculty at 168¿ª½±¹ÙÍø’s challenges students to view learning as a relentless, life-long pursuit. We hope our students realise that knowledge is not inert or ritualised in its nature, but rather a dynamic process, that when looked at through the right lens can provide clarity on troublesome issues, new solutions to global problems or intercultural understanding when empathy seems lacking. Our hope is for students to realise that it is not the having of knowledge that matters but rather, what we do with it.
Through studying subjects within the Global Studies Faculty, students learn to be:
- informed, engaged and empathetic members of our community
- fluent in their capacity to apply theoretical understanding to the broader cultural, legal and economic world around them
- adept researchers, articulate communicators and critical thinkers
To develop these dispositions and skills they will:
- consider challenges and problems from numerous perspectives
- engage meaningfully with a wide range of contextualised sources and critically evaluate their usefulness
- transfer learning to new and unfamiliar contexts
- structure, sequence and synthesise information in order to draw thoughtful conclusions.
