Mathematics

The Mathematics Faculty at 168¿ª½±¹ÙÍø’s works to develop successful, empowered, and self-regulated learners who value mathematics as a life-long pursuit of knowledge and wisdom. We embed meaningful and challenging learning experiences in our classrooms that inspire our students to not only be proficient and fluent with mathematics but be creative in their reasoning to solve problems.

Through the study of Mathematics, students learn to be:

  • Confident, proficient, and effective users and communicators of mathematics.
  • Proficient with mathematical concepts, skills, procedures, and processes.
  • Logical and reasoned thinkers.
  • Critical and creative thinkers capable of solving complex and relevant problems.
  • Motivated learners who develop positive dispositions towards mathematics.

To develop these dispositions and skills they will:

  • Engage with both simple and complex mathematical problems and learning experiences in the strands of Number, Algebra, Space, Measurement, Probability and Statistics.
  • Conduct investigations and write reports on contextualised and real-world mathematical problems.
  • Participate in enrichment programs and competitions to celebrate their mathematical accomplishments.

  • Junior Mathematics (Years 7 to 9)
  • Mathematics 1 (Year 10)
  • Mathematics 2 (Year 10)
  • Mathematics Extension (Year 10)
  • General Mathematics (Years 11 and 12)
  • Mathematical Methods (Years 11 and 12)
  • Specialist Mathematics (Years 11 and 12)
